WOMEN’S AUXILIARY OF MOTORSPORTS ANNOUNCES 2006 SLATE OF OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS

CONCORD, N.C. (February 1, 2006) – The Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. (WAM, Inc.) elected its 2006 slate of officers and board members during a general membership meeting on October 25, 2005.

Gaye Joy will take over as the President of the organization after serving as director in 2004 – 2005.  Her husband, Mike Joy, is a FOX TV Personality.

Serving as Vice President is Kim Jones, who steps up from the Corresponding Secretary position.  Kim is a long-time member and has served as either an officer or director (for the former Busch Series Ladies Association) for many years.  Kim is married to Jamie Jones, crew chief for Red Horse Racing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Josette Tesar moves over to Recording Secretary from Corresponding Secretary.  Her husband, Todd Tesar, is employed at Penske Engine Development.  Josette is entering into her third year with the Auxiliary.
 
Wendy Belk, Craftsman Public Relations, will take over the responsibilities of Corresponding Secretary after serving as Truck Series liaison and Recording Secretary in 2004 and 2005 respectively.

The treasurer position will be filled by Cyndi Johns who served as a director in 2005.  Cyndi is married to Sammy Johns, competition director for Evernham Motorsports.

Seven ladies will serve on the 2006 Board of Directors: Danielle Frye, MRN Pit Reporter; Meredith Lewis, wife of driver Ashton Lewis; Punam Macco, wife of Chip Ganassi Racing crew member Richard Macco; Lisa Reutimann, wife of driver David Reutimann; Tammy Rice, wife of crew chief Chris Rice; Ann Schrader, wife of driver Ken Schrader and Wendy Venturini, TV personality for Speed Channel.

The Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. (WAM, Inc.), was established in 2004 with the merger of the Winston Cup Racing Wives Auxiliary and the Busch Series Ladies Association.  The Auxiliary’s mission is to enrich the lives of women, children, and families through educational and wellness programs.  In addition, the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. helps support organizations with likeminded missions and purposes.
