![]() WCRWA And BSLA Announce the Formation of the Women's Auxiliary of MotorsportsConcord, NC (May 26, 2004) – The Winston Cup Racing Wives Auxiliary and Busch Series Ladies Association are pleased to announce the formation of the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. (WAM, Inc.) The newly formed organization is the result of a merger between the WCRWA and BSLA. Founded in 1965 and 1996 respectively, the two organizations decided to join forces, in addition to the ladies of the Craftsman Truck Series to form one united front which serves all three major NASCAR® sanctioned racing divisions. “With the changes to the sport and the new sponsorship of the Cup Series, we decided it was time to make changes with the women’s auxiliaries as well,” stated Ann Schrader, President of the WCRWA. “Through many discussions and options we elected to form one organization serving the same goals.” “It was a natural fit to combine these organizations,” added Cathy Green, former BSLA President. “We all want to accomplish the same thing and felt we could have a stronger front with the two organizations combined as well as pulling in the ladies from the Truck Series.” In 2004, the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. has been honored with the designation of “Proud Charity of NASCAR®”. NASCAR® and the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. have the combined experience of over 90 years in motorsports. These long traditions of creating exciting and safe racing and helping racing families in need makes the partnership between NASCAR® and the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. a winning combination. The Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports’ mission is to enrich the sport of NASCAR® with a commitment to its families through fundraising and wellness programs for those requiring medical or financial assistance. In addition, the Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports, Inc. helps support organizations with likeminded missions and purposes.
